Bengals blow early lead, fall on road to Green Valley, 8-4

    BOXSCORE

(April 4, 2008) – Despite a 3-0 first inning lead, Bonanza's baseball team continued its road struggles, falling to Green Valley, 8-4, Friday afternoon.

Kris Bryant's three-run homer in the top of the first gave the Bengals the early lead, but Bonanza couldn't overcome a four-run fourth by Green Valley. After closing the gap to 6-4 in the top of the sixth, Green Valley answered with a pair of runs on their own to put the game out of reach.

"This was a non-league game and we were trying a few new things," coach Derek Stafford said. "We wanted to get a few guys some innings on the mound and get them some work for the league stretch."

Nick Bryant was 2-for-3 and Kris Bryant finished the game1-for-4 with four RBI. Chris Antoku added a pair of hits for the Bengals (8-9), who continued to struggle on the road.
