Bonanza (9-10, 1-3 SW) battled all game under the lights of the hitter's park, tying the ballgame at nine in the top of the fourth before Gorman pulled away late. Kris Bryant hit his fourth home run in four games and the Bengals hit three total in a game that saw 13 extra base hits and 32 hits total.
"It was one of those nights where both the batting averages and ERAs rise," Bonanza copach Derek Stafford said. "We battled them and were right there until they pulled away. It was a matter of who would shut down the other first. I don't think there was a 1-2-3 inning all game for either team. It was an exciting game to watch, especially with the wind playing such a role in a hitter's ballpark."
Tomo Delp was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Nick Bryant was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Philip Navarro and Kyle Hutchens added a pair of hits apiece. Jordan Hanley also homered and Eddir Orozco doubled in the league loss.
Bonanza returns to action Thursday in a huge home game with Durango. The winner of the game takes sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Southwest Division. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 start.
